Hardest Sorority To Get Into At Alabama

The hardest Sorority to get into at Alabama is Chi Omega. Other hard to get sororities are Delta Delta Delta, and Alpha Chi Omega.

Sororities can be hard if you do not match vibes.

Some sororities are harder to get into than others, especially at the University of Alabama because of the complex and highly competitive recruitment process. Thousands of students try to win bidding from the top-tier sororities to call their home for their college years.

However, those sororities that are considered highly competitive and hard to get into can be a piece of cake for others who match the vibe of the existing members or sisters, as they are called.

According to AL, Potential New Members (PNM) rushing to be a part of the sorority group of their choice need to be good-looking as well. Although physical appearance matters in the first round of the recruitment process, it has taken its toll on several PNM mentally with some developing anxiety and depression.

All PNM must get a letter of recommendation from alumni or current members of the sorority they are rushing for. PNMs with their parents or other family members as alumni get higher scores because they would be carrying a legacy.

However, if someone has a pleasing personality and a wow factor then the recruiting sisters will arrange for some existing members or alumni to write a letter of recommendation to bid for the PNM.

Cost is also another factor determining the ability to get into a sorority at the University of Alabama. According to UA’s official website, new membership plans can be as high as $4,978.00 for year one, and an additional $9,445.00 per semester for sorority meal and housing options.

Sororities associated with Alabama Panhellenic Association are the most expensive ones and the cheapest ones are those associated with Alabama United Greek Council. AUGC’s one-time cost can be $300 at the highest and the per semester fee for food and housing is $3,470.

While there isn’t a definitive list of the hardest sororities to get into at the University of Alabama but the most popular ones are often the hardest ones. If you match the vibe with the sorority then you might not have any problems getting into a top-tier group easily.

Alabama Sorority Houses Ranked

The top Alabama Sorority houses ranked by size are Alpha Chi Omega and Gamma Phi Beta. NIC and NPC have spent over $200 million to build accommodations.

The University of Alabama has one of the largest numbers of sorority and fraternity groups with thousands of active members. Housing such a huge number of students in sorority housing is challenging and organizations associated with these sororities are spending millions to build mansions.

Here are the top 5 sorority houses based on their size at the University of Alabama.

1. Alpha Chi Omega (40,000 sq ft)

Alpha Chi Omega has the largest sorority house at the Univeristy of Alabama with an area of 40,000 sq ft.

The house was built in 2014 and features 38 bedrooms capable of sleeping 76 women. It also has several living spaces, a meeting room, locker facilities, a study area, and dens for the members to spend their time together.

In addition to the modern facilities and luxuries, both the internal and external architecture of the sorority house screams Greek style. It features ancient busts and a wooden harp on the wall to transport members back to the time of Hercules.

2. Gamma Phi Beta (40,000 sq ft)

Gamma Phi Beta ties with Alpha Chi Omega as it also has a sorority house covering 40,000 sq ft of total area.

The house was built from scratch starting in August 2013, it is capable of sleeping over 68 women and has a lot of wiggle room for interaction and bonding with one another. They even scraped the idea of suit style bathroom for building a hall-style bathroom where sororities can interact with one another for better bonding.

Gamma Phi Beta house is equipped with all the modern technologies as it was built recently and features several living rooms and quiet rooms for studying loaded with fluffy sofas. The dining room can accommodate 72 people at a time.

3. Pi Beta Phi (40,000 sq ft)

Pi Beta Phi also boasts a newly constructed 40,000 sq ft sorority home at the University of Alabama.

Their mansion is also part of the school’s sorority and fraternity housing expansion initiated after the drastic rise in the members of the groups. The university is planning to build approximately equal-sized housing for all the groups to enjoy a relaxing home away from home.

Just like other mansions, the Pi Beta Phi sorority home also features all the modern luxuries combined with stainless white marble and huge chandeliers. The house is loaded with a dining area seating over 250 people and both formal and informal living spaces.

It is capable of sleeping 63 women on two residential floors and features a study area, library, and more. It also has a courtyard for outdoor seating.

Phi Mu has a 39,444 sq ft mansion to house all the sorority sisters living on campus.

The building is one of the most expensive construction projects among other sorority homes and was completely at a total cost of $13 million, for the record it was under budget.

While it might not be the largest on the campus but it is surely one of the most expensive ones. The 13-million dollar sorority home is exactly as you expect it to be with a black grand piano in the hallway loaded with white marble and a chandelier from The Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Just like other mansions at the University of Alabama, Delta Gamma mansion also has several social areas, formal and informal living rooms, a dining area with a seating capacity above 70 people, and more.
